4. New stone in the BATH

Staying on trend with the departure of granite, Calacatta marble will find its way into all styles of bathrooms. Calacatta is a rarer Italian stone than Carrara marble, but is quarried in the same region. They both have white with gray veining but Cararra tends to be grayer with soft veins.Calacatta is whiter with bold, dramatic veins.

Finally! Homeowners are seeking a blend of classic textures and colors infused with boldness and sparkle.  Glossy glass tile backsplashes and sparkle on polished fixtures will be the beginning of an ongoing trend.

2. Living LONGER in your Home

Kitchen and bath upgrades need to be easy with many aging-in-place homeowners wanting to stay in their homes for the long haul.

1. HEALTHY living (mind, body, home)

Sustainability is here to stay. Sustainable design is meant to create a healthy living environment, free of toxins and harsh chemicals.  It also means maximizing what we have and adding only what is needed (can you say flea markets??).  There are homeowners  taking advantage of federal and state incentives to evaluate their home’s energy efficiency and overall performance.

7. Glass Backsplashes

We have seen mosaic glass tile for years.  Taking its place are glass/stone/tile mosaic composites that tie into stone and quartz countertops. One of the most beautiful and interesting new trends are back painted, solid glass backsplashes.  They lend themselves to more contemporary kitchens by providing an extremely clean and polished look.

6. Simple Sinks

Double sinks remain popular but deep single bowl sinks are gaining ground.  They boast accessories such as fitted colanders and the ability to fit large baking sheets.  While we love stainless steel, quartz composite sinks are a great option too.

5. Color Love

Gray. Gray. Gray.  Charcoal is the new color to love. This gorgeous color will be everywhere this year paired with yellow, white, navy blue and coral.
