I should probably start off by making a confession.
Sometimes I find myself feeling "underqualified" when I walk into a client's home.
Some homes are so beautifully styled AND when I walk in I silently
ask myself 'what do they need me for?'
This was definitely the case nearly two years ago when I first met Diane. She was looking for some help and direction in her husband's office. We had a really fun time shopping together at the flea market (dragged him along that day) and bonding over great ideas.
She is like my soul sister as far as interior style goes.
So when she called me this past summer and asked for some help in her powder room I was crazy excited to work on another space in her home.
She showed me her pinterest boards and we bounced some various ideas around.
The end result is perfect for her family of three men and one gorgeous woman.
It has a fantastic vintage vibe with modern touches at every turn.
This large zinc mirror was originally meant to be a "leaner" against the wall. We LOVED it though and after hours of looking, we realized we would never find a better mirror. It is stunning and reflects the modern wall tile in the shower on the opposite wall.
Love this vintage basin sink and unexpected towel storage below.
The towel holder next to the sink has an antique twin located next to the toilet.
Guess what it says?
That's what you get when you live in a HOUSE of BOYS :)
Diane and her family visited Italy this past summer and I sent her on a mission before she left to find Italian architecture that we could use as artwork.
Stunning pictures of Italian doors were matted, framed and hung above the toilet.
Perfect detail.
The tile on the shower walls looks like weathered barnwood with an unexpected
hex pattern of grays and browns on the custom shower floor.
Such a great space that just oozes her family's style.
Love it!

Some stories are best told in pictures.
This story is about a Master Bathroom in serious need of an update.
I have two dear friends that are lovely and amazing. I wanted their bathroom to reflect that.
I wanted it to have function, more space, some fun, and be a place to relax and unwind.
Thankfully, this was also their wish list.

Before the renovation, this was the bathroom.

You see the issues. A massive corner tub that the cat used as a bed, two sink areas with little
storage and a crowded shower.

Soooooooo.......we eliminated the linen closet.....and created a larger shower
Relocated plumbing to accommodate a new soaking tub....
(note the special ledge for wine glasses and the fun chandy)
And designed a custom vanity to house ALL the things they use everyday....
The end result is really special. My friends and I had a lot of fun in the process and all their wishes came true.  I even convinced them to add a TV on the vanity
for long soaks in the tub.
(Can't miss an episode of Real Housewives...can we?)

Wishes can be granted.

It has been a few years since we completed our Powder Room renovation but I am JUST NOW getting around to sharing the results.

I kind of can't believe that we lived with that oak vanity as long as we did. It was a terrific place to store toilet paper, old candles, paint cans...you guessed it...junk! When people say "don't you miss that storage?" I have to admit that at first I did but now I love the simplicity.
I fell in love with this sexy black laquer vanity from Luxe Bathworks.
In the original AFTER photo shown above, I had installed a black laquer mirror. After seeing it installed, I wanted more "shimmer" and found the silver mirror at Horchow.
I love the beaded detail.

We highlighted the ceiling with a velvety navy blue to compliment the soft gray walls.
I made the art from glittery paper and it represents the states my husband and I were raised in and the state where we are raising our family.
